Just in case i’m way below your standards, do not laugh at me,
I was born and raised in the interior parts of sub-saharan Africa,
Chasing baboons out of my Father’s garden was my favourite encounter,
In spite the fact that they would sometimes retaliate, there was no time to back down,
Our home was confined by the game wardens of the Tsavo National Park,
Little did they know, we had already bonded with the untamed animals,
When i was twelve, the king of jungle gave us a visit at midnight,
He softly walked past our boma without hurting anyone, back to his zoo,
Contrary to the African traditions, my mother taught me how to cook,
Mama would come home carrying cassava roots in a basket,
That’s the moment i would start lighting up the fire,
Since I knew it was my turn to come up with a good recipe, the family was eagerly waiting,
Just like Stephen in the scriptures, dad had a charismatic personality,
He would call me to carry his twenty kilogramme mattock as we headed towards the south,
In a secluded land far away from home, a dwelling unit for bush rodents,
Squirrels would stand on their toes, wagging their tails as they cogitated on our impromptu visit.

Wow, what amazing adventures your childhood brought! How many people can say they chased baboons from their garden or had lions visit during the night? Thank you for sharing.
