HIGH SCHOOL LOVE LIFE

The days of my youth are fast fading away, but still, I haven’t found my other half, I’m patiently waiting, but for how long?
I’ve searched everywhere, beneath the carpet, outside in the wild, but still the hunter’s arrow hasn’t succeeded to find a fat kill,
I’ve met numerous maidens from the north, narrowing down towards south of the great Indian Ocean,
But with all their flourishing beauty, none, not even one has matched my heart desires !

Allow me to take you through the titbits of my past love life, maybe you might understand and reason with me,
The first lass to snatch away my heart was a high school classmate, she had a perfect body shape, blue eyes, and a breathtaking smile,
Everyone envied her, so the worse came when she chose me over the “Toms and Hillarys” of our time,
Anger and resentment grew in the hearts of those who wanted a share of my precious pot, it was the beggining of tough times,

We used to sit together in church and pray fervently that we may never part ways, while she sung a soft soprano, I did the humming in alto,
Our love story went viral in our school, even after we were punished by the deputy principal, we never gave up,
We motivated each other in times of trouble, we made promises to stay under the same umbrella, come rain come shine,
Now after our perfect highschool memories, things started falling apart; slowly by slowly she drifted away!

The last time I saw her, was on a friday afternoon when I was resting under a boabab tree after a long day herding in the plains,
She came and blindfolded my eyes using her palms, I didn’t hesitate to mention her name, cos I knew her by her body perfume,
She broke the news to me that she was going to travel the next day, to visit her uncle in the Kenyan coast, Mombasa!
And because she was in a hurry, she kissed me goodbye and left, I couldn’t believe my eyes, I watched her as she joined her mum who was eargely waiting for her at the gate. Till this moment I’ve never heard from her..! Though I heard rumours that she got married by a very powerful politician, it is well with my soul.
