Hurdles of my Childhood

I grew up in the interior parts of the great Kamba land,
Home to the greatest honey tappers in history of Bantus,
Early in the morning i would accompany my father to the plains,
As he drove hundreds of cattle to graze on the greeny hill side,

Maria, The Beautiful African Damsel

Her contagious smile would melt the hearts of her admirers,
Her long hair that comfortably sleeps on her hips,
Was a certain assurance that she’s queen of the brown land,
Favour found a home in her little skimpy head,

Inside the Nairobi Metropolitan Area.

The word Nairobi originated from the Maasai community,
“Enkare Nyrobi” which translates to cold water refering to the Nairobi river,
That’s why the Morans are free to feed their cattle at the navel of the city,
Without anyone raising an alarm to restrict these warriors,

The Pulpit Scavengers

Hiding behind shallow learnedness of the scriptures,
They prolong divine hours through loud praise music,
New members still wandering around wondering,
They get pinned to the walls, to produce member-ship fee,

The Street Castigator

There’s a powerful order from the high table of the Napoleon,
That decries against leaving your house at nightfall,
Effective until the streets are safe again for human consumption,
The slogans are quite convincing for anyone to stay indoors,
Unless you’re prepared to face the wrath of the state castigator,

Inside the Corridors of Jealousy

Envy is a Green-eyed monster that resides in the inner most part of a human heart,
Having a jealous friend around you is like caressing the back of a rattle snake,
One day he shall dry siphon your blood vessels to death,
Beware of your fellow men, the enemy is within your habitat,

Noble Kings of the Pride Land

Third in command is Panthera Pardus, the black spotted Leopard,
Termed as masters of disguise by tourists, the African leopard is deadly,
He can drag prey for a longer distance to hide it from scavengers,
Leopards are top-flight swimmers when the rains quench the dry land

Thank God it’s Friday

Right from the CBD, priceless wagons occupy the streets,
All legs busy applying six pounds of pressure on the gas pedal,
The traffic on our roads swells like wedding balloons,
Some divert to night casinos where they spend till the next day,

Son of a Tycoon

My father is the richest man in the world,
How proud i am to be called son of the northern mogul,
Everyone wants to taste the cookies of my domicile,
Generosity is my dad’s favourite word, so the gates are open,

The Beauty of Our Mother Land

Kenya will welcome you to Maasai Mara for the Magnificent view of the cat family,
Neighbours Tanzania proudly invites you to the Serengeti Plains,
Famously known for the great migration of wildebeests,
As they struggle for greener pastures across the banks of Mara River,
