Bordering three African countries, first it dominates a larger part of Botswana the home of desert lions,
Crossing towards the eastern side of the republic of Namibia,
Stretching wide to the northernmost part of cape province of South Africa,
Is Africa’s second largest semi-arid sandy savannah, a few steps behind the Sahara desert,

Nine hundred meters above sea level is a desert that sits at position six in the world map,
Deep in the southwest, converges with Namib, the great coastal desert of Namibia,
It borders the iconic Okavango delta hanging north of Botswana,
When summer draws near, the land struggles to survive under the flaming hot sun,

Kalahari is home of the San people, a distinct clan which survives on hunting and gathering,
This tribe is famously known through Nǃxau ǂToma who starred as bushman Xixo in a 1980 movie entitled “The gods must be crazy”
As one of their survival tactics, they crash petals of cactus when they get thirsty,
Inside the scattered woodlands, they hunt for bush rodents to fill their wild stomachs,

Despite the harsh climatic conditions, Kalahari is home of wildlife inclusive of wildebeests, springboks, kudu and the brown hyaena,
Not to forget prey eating birds like the martial eagle, giant eagle owl and also falcons,
A variety of reptiles also dwell upon the desert including Cape cobras, puff adders and lizards,
Lest we forget the amphibians who are also able to survive here, the bush veld rain frog and the tremolo sand frog.
